Victoria Street

Andy McGaw  socan 2023

Oh the night was right we got all the lights down Sherbrook street

The rain made that old car look like brand new to me

My cheeks were sore from smiling at you all the way

Ah but we were far too young far too young to marry

Your apartment on Victoria street had a funny smell

You vacuumed and you scrubbed it up but we couldn’t tell

The landlord didn’t mind that you gave me a key

Ah but we were for too young far too young to marry

My family didn’t know what would become of me

An apple that does not want the comfort of the tree

In a Chinese restaurant we planned for anywhere

Ah but we were for too young far too young to marry

Gary came over and we played some songs on the balcony

He showed me some new cords that were a stretch for me

He played them for us in a song about a Dutchman’s love

Ah but we were far too young far too young to marry

Night shift ended with a coffee from the coin machine

I Stood in line at the punch clock all  half asleep

I crossed the bridge and I turned right on Victoria street

Ah but we were far too young far too young to marry

Ah but we were far too young far too young to marry
